What About Your Friends?

FRIENDS...how many of us have them?

Everyone has that friend they can turn to in any situation, but everyone also has that friend that they run to depending on the situation. We all have our "club" friends, our "relationship" friends, and our "I'm cheating on my boy/girlfriend" friends -- the one we talk to even though they tell us we're wrong but they'll listen and you know they won't tell a soul -- that's just how it is. You know which friends can be trusted with certain issues and you stick to it.

Not many times do I get a call from a friend and if they're not just calling to say hello [because the "texting" thing is so informal now], they're calling to tell me about a certain situation. Different friends for different occasions. Now don't get me wrong, I love all my friends [some more than others] but everyone has their role. So should trust be a factor in friendships as in the same in a relationship?

YES. A friendship is a relationship -- without all the sex & sorry baby [for most, NO COMMENT]. Trust and communication is key in any friendship as well as a relationship. You can't honestly call someone you don't trust a friend, BUT you trust them enough with certain information. Some friends we keep around for convenience, and some we keep around because between the two of you, you have enough dirt on each other to land you both under Rikers Penitentiary. Either way, that's your friend.

Personally, my friends and I have established a bond. I know my friends are my friends because of simple things. 1. we don't aruge much, but when we do it never escalates to name calling; 2. we all serve a different purpose/role; 3. our tastes are different so we all bring something different to the table. 4. if we do argue, I get upset and apologize (or vice versa) -- and y'all know I don't apologize for NOTHING. I'm just saying. I don't mind that my friends call me for sex advice or something dealing ONLY in the sexual realm. It's okay, that's what I do -- it's my role. But when a friend does reach out to me to ask about what they should do regarding their relationship or something of that nature, I put my game face on & become a listening ear. I'm always honored.

Love, cherish, listen to your friends. Who cares they they only call you at 2am or that they always blast you on twitter for not calling them (when they have a phone as well)? Just laugh it off, smile, and say I love you friend. A friend will be there...mine are always there! Love you friends.

I Like My Status...

BUT WHY?
So here's the dilemma. Dear old Facebook has an option to like people's statuses that you find interesting or that you may agree with in some fashion. It's an alternative to commenting, like saying, "yeah, I agree with what he/she is saying but I don't have much to add to it so I'll just like it." All of that is cool and all, but why do SOME people find it okay to LIKE their own status'?

Of course we know you like it...you wrote it!
It's like second guessing yourself. "Ummm...I'm going to write this status and if I like what I said, I'm going to like it." VERY SMART facebookers...VERY smart. I often laugh when I see this happen. The only thing that goes through my mind is, "why did this fool like his/her own status?" Think about this next time you update. Not only does it make you look lame, but when no one else likes it...it makes you look even MORE LAME! Setting yourself up for the kill buddy.

I've tried to get in contact with Mark about a dislike button, but then I thought about it. What if a b-tch calls themselves trying to dislike something I wrote, or vice-versa? It would become quite messy & let's face it...Facebook is messy enough. So that idea went flying out the window real quick. I don't wanna have to punch a b-tch in the head for disliking one of my status' about Beyoncé or some other person I comment on a lot. I'm just saying.

In conclusion, stop liking what you wrote as your status, are you trying to convince us that you meant it or are you trying to convince yourself?

to Follow or NOT to follow...

THAT IS THE QUESTION!

Lately, it's been brought to my attention that people and this whole fad of #teamFollowBack has gotten a little out of hand. Over the past few days (actually it's been going on for a minute, but the past few days have been crazy), I'll receive a mention from a random guy/girl telling me that they've followed me and to "follow back please" or I'll receive the same message in a different form. It's all pretty annoying & actually makes you look desperate.

No disrespect to those I follow who are apart of #teamFollowBack & all BUT trust me when I tell you that I did not follow you with the intent of getting a follow back. Those of you who do your little promos here & there are cool with me...just don't flood my timeline with that sh-t. I never follow someone with the intent of being followed back. Personally, I follow those I find interesting. Tweets are usually unlocked, and you're usually RT'd in my timeline on the regular. Now, if you so happen to bless me with a follow back...I'm honored. Some of you follow, maybe for an hour or so, then unfollow. Half the time, not even acknowledging that you followed me so I really don't know that you've done so. I don't keep up with the whole following/unfollowing thing.

I don't discriminate on who I unfollow either. I don't care if we're the best of friends in real life, if you haven't tweeted since August or the last 10 tweets on your page are from twittascope, then my friend...you're unfollowed.

So next time you decide to throw #teamFollowBack in someone's face, remember there's that great button that's become my friend lately, and his name is BLOCK.

BAD HEAD, LAME BRAIN, YOU JUST CAN'T SUCK DICK...

What to do, what to do, what to do? There comes a time in every mans life when he runs across that special someone who wasn't blessed with the talent of sucking a good dick. Now for those who know, there's a difference between "sucking dick" & "giving head". Let me explain...

Giving Head: basically speaks for itself. Slightly caressing the tip of your head, kissing the tip, gently tugging your scrotum, stroking the shaft slightly as the warmth of their mouth covers your head (not even entirely), only to stop after 2 minutes

Sucking Dick: now this is talent. Deep-throating, saliva everywhere, no hands, face fucking, little gag reflex, til completion/happy ending...just all around A1 entertainment.

We've all had someone tell us "my head game's the dumbest" or some other Lil' Wayne "ho-quote" we've all used from one of his singles. But how do you stop those who can't suck dick, from committing this same crime?

I always said, teach them. There's nothing wrong with coaching someone into giving the perfect head, but we all know that every guy/female isn't the same. Some like it different, but it's pretty much the same routine. As long as you keep the dick wet, there should be no problems. Why concern yourself with how big my dick is, if your intentions are to only suck the first 2 inches anyway? I never understood that.

So here are a few pointers...

1. Foreplay is key. Everyone enjoys some good "mouth & lip service". Don't be afraid to swallow more than you can chew. A little gagging here and there is actually a turn-on for most.

2. Communication. Talk to your partner (or the nigga/female you have over for that night -- I don't judge). No one knows your body better than you & no one knows what makes you cum quicker than you...if that's your goal.

3. Lead by Example. Return the favor. Don't be selfish. I mean it is a team effort. "do unto others, as you want them to do unto you", RIGHT? Besides, if you do him/her right, I'm sure they'll try better next time.

So remember boys & girls, your body is a temple...so treat it right. Ain't nothing wrong with a little fellatio.

the Last Train To Paris, Diddy's Dirty Money group has finally released it's highly anticipated album after months of keeping fans & foes on their toes. Diddy, Dawn, & Kaleena have made their mark on the music industry with this album. With guest appearances from Lil' Wayne, Justin Timberlake, Swizz Beats, Rick Ross, Trey Songz, Usher, & Grace Jones (to name a few), this is one of the year's best albums. Hard hitting production from Swizz Beats, Danja, & Darkchild, it's an album sure to sound good while riding in your car.

Who doesn't love to hate Diddy?

Despite his managing skills, the man can make some good party music. If there's one thing Sean can do, besides throw some good parties, it's make good music. No matter how much I try to hate Puff Daddy for eventually destroying Danity Kane, you've got to love that man. Dawn (the only member to survive Danity Kane) & Kaleena (yes people, not Estelle) held it down this album too. Their vocals together are great. The blend is superb.

As far as the album goes...

It's a winner to me. I thought the cursing on this album was a little unnecessary during majority of the album, but I think it was a emphasize on how big of a "b-tch" or "motherf-cker" you were. Despite the excessive swearing, some of my favorite tracks include, Ass On the Floor ft. Swizz Beats, Hate You Now, Yesterday ft. Chris Brown, Strobe Lights ft. Lil' Wayne, & Your Love ft. Trey Songz. It probably would've been easier for me to list the songs I did NOT like because I really am in love with this album. I guess the wait was really worth it. I was REALLY upset that Love Come Down wasn't on the album BUT who doesn't make their own bonus tracks these days. LoL.

I wish Diddy & his angels the best of luck & much success with this album. Not much competition on the charts this week. Of course there was R. Kelly, Ciara, Kandi, & Tank -- who all released albums today -- but if Tank would have had better promotion he would have had a good chance. I guess we'll see what happens next week.

I know I'm going to be shunned for this one BUT I couldn't resist...

Now those of you who know me personally KNOW that I try my hardest to hate/slander/construe the name of Keri Hilson a.k.a. Miss Keri Baby!! Especially since she tried to pull it by bringing my girl, Bey, fans in the mix during some party she had New Year's 2010. Pretty much all of this week, the 27-year-old, Decatur, Georgia native, has been in the media sparking controversy. Lighting up the social networks as if she had committed some kind of crime.

Sunday night, World Star Hip-Hop premiered her latest video The Way You Love Me featuring Rick Ross [blah!]. When I first heard it was released I wasn't too enthused about seeing it, considering the disappointment in her previous song & video for Pretty Girl Rock. But when I tell you that I was FLUSHED with amazement watching this latest video, I was enticed. Watching Keri gyrate on that bank vault, and p-ssy popping in a black leather bathing suit for pretty much the whole video was quite exciting.

I love to see women take charge of their sexuality. The raunchiness of cute women is sooo sexy to me. Almost a sense of empowerment, I would think, Keri was trying to express for her second upcoming studio album No Boys Allowed [12.21.10]. She's been getting criticized [not only by those on twitter but] by some "celebrity" (I use the word loosely) colleagues, like Ms. Karina Pasian [hold your laughter]. This is what she had to say

I love the video & the video only made me love the song even more. The first time I heard it, I was like what the f-ck is this Keri, oooooh but I was blinded. LoL. Good job Keri. Looks as if I'll be buying this album, as well.

Coach Killers?

The most peculiar thing dawned on me today when a friend of mine brought it to my attention. The Green Bay Packers have won their past 4 games (2 against the Minnesota Vikings *lowers head*) upsetting a lot of fans out there. But this is what I want to point out; within the past 3 weeks, the Packers have managed to get the head coaches of both the Minnesota Vikings & Dallas Cowboys fired after winning those games.

Have the Green Bay Packers become coach killers?

Sunday, November 7th, they upset the Cowboys 45 - 7. The following [Monday] afternoon, Dallas Cowboys head coach, Wade Phillips was fired. *scratches head* In this scenario, I saw it necessary BUT I think that they should have at least let Phillips finish out the season. But after taking a week off to enjoy that defeat over the Cowboys, the Packers returned this past Sunday, November 21 to face the Minnesota Vikings at Mall of America stadium; where they upset Favre & the gang 31 - 3. That following Monday, news spread about the firing of Vikings head coach, Brad Childress. [sidenote: it's not Childress, it's Brett...I'm just sayin'!!] What a coincidence?

The Green Bay Packers, with a current 7-3 record, 1st in the NFC North, have only lost 3 games and in each game, they only lost by 3 points.

v. Chicago 20 - 17

v. Washington 16-13 OT

v. Dolphins 23-20 OT

and have played against some pretty still competition, so you can't knock them of their hustle. We'll have to see what Aaron Rodgers & his camp do against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend.

PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE! This is probably a big reason as to why I DON'T spend much time on facebook anyway. I wake up this morning to find this on my news feed from an anonymous friend & it took me for a loop. You CAN'T be serious. This post came from someone who updates EVERY 5 minutes... "i'm at the movies", "i'm eating lunch", "i'm driving to the mall", "i'm taking a piss"...like seriously, not saying people don't care but WHO CARES? Take the time to think before you post. Trust me...it's not that hard.

YOU control YOUR facebook.
I'm one of those people who comments on EVERYONE'S post when I'm bored -- that's just what I do. Don't post it if you don't want people to comment on it. You can't seriously tell people to stay out of your business when you post EVERYTHING via facebook. Then have the NERVE to delete someone's comments when they say something to or about your situation. There have been plenty of times I've wanted to say something, I've wanted to comment on a situation, but then I think about those who are my "friends" on facebook & THINK about what would be said (both good & bad) & I weigh my options.

Stop being so bitter.
Some people always have something negative to post on their status'. Try switching it up here & there. I know your life can't be THAT bad that you have to down yourself or slander someone's name who doesn't even have a facebook account. You down your mothers, fathers, siblings, even your kids and get mad when someone comments, "stop talking about _____ like that". You guys (and gals) do the most.

LIMIT yourself.
This one is especially for you guys & girls who have significant others. Why post something you KNOW will get questioned, then have the audacity to get mad when questioned about it. Not to mention, post on your facebook that he/she is mad about it. [smH]. I've been a victim of some [not only facebook] social networking controversy myself. I didn't know you have a boyfriend, how was I supposed to know that?

Next time you feel the need to "snap" at someone for commenting on a status you posted for EVERYONE to see, take the time and ask yourself "do I REALLY want people to say anything about my post"? It will save us time & you the grief. Now go back to facebook & comment on people's statuses.

New Sheriff in Minnesota...

This past Sunday (October 31), NFL veteran, Brett Favre was seriously injured during a critical game against the New England Patriots. During the 4th quarter, Patriots defensive tackle, Myron Pryor, laid one out on Brett, leaving him carted off the field and needing eight stitches in his chin. On top of an already injured ankle, it was only a matter of time before the 41-year-old veteran was put to rest.

So where does this leave the Minnesota Vikings?
Well, after being defeated 28-18 in a close bout against the New England Patriots this Sunday, leaving the Vikings with a 2-5 record, the playoffs seem to be out of sight right now. But wait, there's a ray of light at the end of the tunnel and his name is Jackson, Tarvaris Jackson.

What about backup quarterback Tarvaris Jackson?
I've mentioned him before here in my blog. He's remarkable and I think a great replacement for old Brett. As shown in the last few minutes of the game Sunday, Jackson is ready. Young Mike Vick, I remember calling him as I watched the game, is more than capable of handling the position of first string quarterback. Let's just hope that he doesn't get too nervous. Appearing in his first game of the season, the 27-year-old, Alabama State alumni, accumulated 36 yards, 1 touchdown (to Tahi), and completed a much needed 2-point conversion to Percy Harvin late in the fourth quarter.

With as much practice and time I'm sure Childress is going to devote in developing and preparing Jackson for this week's game against Derek Anderson & the Arizona Cardinals, there's not doubt in my mind that Tarvaris will show up and show out.

On Friday, October 29, 2010, the National Football League [NFL] fined Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Randy Moss, for declining to speak to the media the week following a win against the Dallas Cowboys on October 17, and the following week after a defeat against the Green Bay Packers the following week. With the Vikings playing against Moss’ former team, the New England Patriots this weekend, [from which he was traded from earlier this month] the media wanted to grab his [Moss] thoughts about his upcoming game, yet again, he declined to cooperate with the news media.

According to ESPN.com, “players’ contracts specify they must make themselves available to the media at specific times each week,” and for not complying with this rule, the Vikings new star receiver was fined $25,000.

Understanding the game and respecting the NFL and its rules, I realize how important it is for players to engage in brief interviews with the media. Even if it’s just for that brief moment after a game, or having a segment on the set of an ESPN/Fox Sports show, the people, their fans, deserve the right to know what’s going on. Breaching his contract has cost him $25,000 and an overall lesson in that the media needs their time. Bet you media whores like Ochocinco & T.O. will NEVER be concerned by this fine.

Favre: I Think It’s Time…

Early August, Brett announced his bid for retirement from the NFL. We all knew that chances were slim of him actually retiring from the league and if we all knew Brett, the way we ALL know Brett, this was just another stunt he pulled to draw attention to himself and to gain some media responses. Due to this announcement, the now 41-year-old NFL veteran, missed out on a lot of training/practice during the off-season and wasn’t as prepared as should be, came game time.

We saw the preseason, Brett looking unprepared and just not the same quarterback that we were used to seeing – not even the same quarterback from last season. Last weeks’ game [versus the Dallas Cowboys (10.17)] was a significant win for the Vikings. Pulling off a 24-21 victory, that win didn’t come easily. Favre was pretty banged up during that game, at one point the wind was nearly knocked out of him. Spectators predicted that he [Favre] wouldn’t last past Week 6, but with all that being said; starting off Week 7 with a 2-3 record just isn’t a good look. Of course, there’s still a chance for the Vikings to reach the playoffs, but those chances are slim.

With that being said, Favre is one of the most respected NFL quarterbacks in the game today. With well over 20 years in the game, completing over 4,200 years last season, 33 touchdowns, and surpassing many NFL records, including Joe Montana’s record for “Most Playoff Passing Yards,” it would be respected if Brett did decide to leave the league. Leaving halfway during the season, wouldn’t be “politically correct” but sure his fans and teammates alike would all understand. Not saying that 41 is old, but in football years – it’s Hall of Fame age.

Hopefully, Brett takes the time to weigh his options carefully. If he continues his performance from last Sunday’s game against Romo & the Cowboys, this Sunday(10.24), against the Green Bay Packers, then maybe he is “fit” to take on more, but as of now, I think that it’s fair to say that his time has come. Still love you though Brett. Much respect, but I’m just sayin’.

I haven't update in a minute. I've been busy, busy, busy with a lot of other projects within the past 2 weeks. On top of my new positions & contributing articles to other sites/publications, I've forgotten all about my personal blog. I promise I'll be back with new material in the near future though. I'm talkin' new site, new material, guest writers/contributors, and just a whole new outlook. But I'll keep you all posted on that.

Mike Vick...Starter!!!

On yesterday, I talked about the Philadelphia Eagles head coach, Andy Reid, not giving Michael Vick the starting position after his great game against the Detroit Lions this past Sunday. According to espn.com, the officials & managers of the Eagles talked everything over and decided to give Vick this shot. This decision is "permanent until further notice." Even after clearing up everything with Kevin Kolb and his concussion related injuries, they still decided to give Vick the job.

"When someone is playing at the level Michael Vick is playing, you have to give him an opportunity," Reid said. "This isn't about Kevin Kolb's play. You're talking about Michael Vick as one the best quarterbacks in the NFL right now." [source]

Mike Vick is BACK baby. Being the highest paid backing quarterback in the league [$5.2M], the Eagles know what talent they have & have finally decided to open their eyes and see what I've been seeing all this time.

I still think we should get him over to Minnesota though. Brett's days are NUMBERED!

Gays In the Military: Part 2

Today, there was a bill in Congress hoping to lift the ban against "open" gays from serving in the military, BUT today that bill was blocked. In a vote of 56-43, the Democrats fell short of the 60 votes needed to pass this piece of legislation.

The partisan vote was a defeat for gay rights groups who saw the provision in a defense authorization bill as their last chance any time soon to overturn the law known as "don't ask, don't tell." [source]

Of course party lines were the major cause for the dismissal of this bill even though Democratic Senators Mark Pryor & Blanche Lincoln [D-Arkansas] voted against the bill along with Senator Majority leader, Harry Reid [D-Nevada].

This is what I think it all comes down to...
If the government allows "openly" gay citizens to join the military, it's only going to be the spark needed to fuel the fire. Once that happens, issues of gay marriage will arise even more with arguments arising, such as, "we can fight for the government but it's the same country that won't let us get legally married" (or something to that liking). Personally, I could give a f_ck if you're gay, straight, bi-, tri- [yes, they're out there] -- you can go out & fight all you want because I'm not doing it. I understand that there's a certain image that the military wants to maintain -- I mean who's gonna take the US military as a threat with a front line full of drag queens [PLEASE don't take that the wrong way].

But to make a long story short, as the old saying goes, "give 'em [gays] an inch, & they'll take a mile." I figured it's all in an effort to slow down confusion and not have things blown out of proportion. You all understand, don't you?

NFL: Week 2 Winners

This week in football was a sad one for me. Only managing to predict 7 out of 16 wins this week, I've got to analyze these unpredictable offenses & what was once horrible secondaries, are NOW beasting. Man, I love this game.

The winners that I were right about were the: Chargers, Broncos, Falcons, Bengals, Chiefs, Eagles, & Steelers. My Vikings & Giants lost & the worst part of it all...the Saints won...AGAIN! Saints, Chiefs, Bears, Packers, Steelers, Dolphins, Buccaneers, & even the frickin' Texans are all 2-0. Something has got to give.

Vick "Still" Gets Benched.

Yesterday was a GREAT day for the 30-year-old ~~second string~~ quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Fans, teammates, & officials were all pleased with his performance against the Detroit Lions on yesterday [winning 35-32], even Andy Reid. Yet, Reid, Eagles head coach, is still persistent on starting Kevin Kolb as the starting QB for the Eagles. But the question at hand is why?

In the past 2 games, Vick has blown fans away with his quickness, his accuracy, and his handle, and he has the stats to prove it. So far this season, Vick has thrown over 400-yards, no interceptions, three touchdowns, and has rushed 18 times for 140 yards. I don't know about you guys, but these stats scream Pro Bowl. [source]

Reid believes that Kolb can give the Eagles the best chances of winning though, despite of what the stats show. During training camp earlier this summer, he [Kevin] was undoubtedly the best option, BUT things have changed & we all saw that Sunday. So what is this devotion towards Kolb that Reid has? "I have to prove that I am the Eagles' starting QB..." Kolb stated in a interview with USA Today.

"It's totally OK with me," Vick said on ESPN on Monday. "Kevin's our leader. Kevin's worked very hard thoughtout the offseason and we've worked hand in hand together. I know how good he is."

The only thing I see Andy trying to do is stay loyal to Kolb, because technically he was the secondary quarterback under McNabb last season, BUT he could be doing this to save his own ass from the people still mad at Vick because of the whole ~~PETA~~ "dog fighting" situation. Hey, maybe we'll find out the real reasoning later. Go Vick!

Thursday, Saints running back, Reggie Bush, decided to relinquish his Heisman Trophy stating that it was “not an admission of guilt,” just the best way to end the controversy.

The Heisman Trophy Trust was discussed reviewing the 25-year-old’s eligibility for the award after an NCAA report concluded that Bush and his family had received gifts & cash from sports agents while playing for Southern California. In an interview after practice with the New Orleans Saints on Thursday, he was reported saying,

“It’s me showing respect to the Heisman Trophy itself and to the people who came before me and the people coming after. I just felt like it was the best thing to do, the most respectful thing to do because obviously I do respect the Heisman. I do respect all the things it stands for.”

Leading the New Orleans Saints to a 16-3 record, eventually winning the NFC Championship against the Minnesota Vikings & finally winning its first Super Bowl victory since the franchise’s opening in 1967, Bush is doing the most respectable thing in my opinion. In 2005, Reggie amassed 2,890 all-purpose yards and helped lead USC to the BCS national title game, where they would lose against Texas. He [Bush] is the first winner of this prestigious award in American sports to forfeit the award.

I honestly feel that there are other players that should be “stripped” of this award, I won't name any names ~~Ron Dayne [1999]~~ & ~~Danny Wuerffel [1996]~~ What have they done since receiving this award? I hope when Regg does hand over the trophy to its officials, that he hands it to them with the hand that his Super Bowl ring is on with a big smile on his face.

Regardless of my ~~hate~~ disliking of the Saints (especially that Brees character), I wish Reggie the best. He’s the ONLY reason I keep up with the Saints (to be honest). I’m sure this press has brought even more attention to his team (where he has been since he’s left USC).

Trey Songz is back at it, and this time around...he isn't playing around.

Still exploring his "sexual" side, the soon-to-be 26 year old Virginia native sings about everything that we all can relate to. The albums lead single, Bottoms Up, featuring none other than the likes of Nicki Minaj is a club banger, gaining much more airplay in the past few weeks, and recently peaked at number 9 on Billboards Top Hip-Hop & R&B Songs chart and has been on the charts for 8 weeks already. His [unofficial] second single, Can't Be Friends (produced by Mario Winans -- and also my favorite song on the album) debuted at number 40 on Billboard, but I KNOW this song will be explosive.

As you listen to the latest from Mr. Steal Yo' Girl, you're reminiscent of the same vibe as Ready. The only features on this album are Drake & Nicki Minaj. He starts off real smooth at the beginning and out of nowhere "...it's Mr. Steal Yo' Girl" [Bottoms Up] pops up. Just as on his Ready LP, it's nice & slow -- Pantie Droppa, Neighbors Know My Name, One Love -- then outta nowhere "...aye, when I give you these keys homeboy, don't move my car man" [Say Ahh ft. Fabolous] -- like c'mon Trey.

To make a long story short, if you enjoyed Ready, you'll enjoy Passion, Pain & Pleasure even more.

Today, Rihanna premiered her new single, Only Girl (In the World), on the Ryan Seacrest Morning Show and the social networks blew up. This up-tempo, techno club banger is sure to be a hit -- she does have fans. I won't say much about the song BUT I'm sure it'll sound great in the clubs. #NOShade AT ALL!

Rihanna's fifth studio album, Loud, is set to be released in November. Let's hope it doesn't drop the same week as Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" -- I'm just sayin'!

Young Money's, Shanell aka SnL, dropped a new track last week entitled, Cupid's Got A Gun, featuring none other than Nicki Minaj. This song is my JOINT -- meaning I love it. Obama v. the Economy

This week, our beloved president, Barack Obama, is going to spend most of his time focusing on the economy – an issue that has been put on the backburner for quite some time now since a slight increase of employment was sighted in the months prior to August. Monday, he called on Congress to pass a $50 billion plan to renew the country’s transportation infrastructure, in an effort to create jobs and boost economic growth.

In the first of his two scheduled speeches this week, Obama spoke in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Labor Day saying, “Today, I am announcing a new plan for rebuilding and modernizing America’s roads, and rails and runways for the long term.” This proposed $50 billion tax credit has yet to meet the approval of its neither Republican nor Democratic constituents – which isn’t that greatest of news considering that midterm elections are just around the corner.

"Obama hopes to work with Congress to enact an up-front investment of $50 billion -- an amount a White House statement said would represent a significant chunk of new spending on infrastructure."

Over the next six years, this proposal entails 150,000 miles of roads, 4,000 miles of railways, and 150 miles of airport runways (in an effort to modernize the nation’s air traffic control system to reduce delays and travel time). This plan would also include the establishing of an infrastructure bank, which would leverage federal dollars.

So in what ways does this bill affect you?

Once Congress comes back from recess next week, deliberations will begin on this new proposed bill, but this is all too soon, considering the fact that these lawmakers will be leaving again in less than a month gearing up for midterm elections – where Democratic majorities in both the House & Senate are in jeopardy.

"Congress must approve the proposal, and White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, said Monday the White House hasn't yet discussed legislative strategy. The House and Senate return from recess the week of Sept. 13 with a separate, small-business lending measure as their first priority."

If this bill is passed, of course taxes will increase. Who else is going to pay for it? Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell [R-Kentucky], condemned the plan saying that Americans do not want to pay higher taxes. "A last-minute, cobbled-together stimulus bill with more than $50 billion in new tax hikes will not reverse the complete lack of confidence Americans have in Washington Democrats' ability to help this economy," said McConnell in a statement posted on CNN.com.

Obama believes that he’s doing what’s best for the nation, but our nation was founded on the basis of free markets and the archetypes of capitalism. Lately, the ideals of our president are looking quite socialist. Now I am not, nor have I ever been “anti-Obama” (you won’t see me riding around with a 'NObama' bumper sticker), and I respect our nation’s commander in chief, but the development of new surface roads and rail maintenance is no way to “reinvent” the economy.

The democrats and Obama’s administration have continuously slammed corporations and major business people in America, they have stubbornly trashed Wall Street, and yet, still wonder why there’s no improvement in the rates of unemployment. During his speech today, Obama noted that the cornerstones of America were government, government programs, welfare, and government policy. But what made America great was free markets – free from the church, free from the State, and FREE from the government.

Obama will follow up his economic address on Wednesday with a full White House press conference on Friday. I, personally, cannot wait to hear what the legislature has to say about this.

Disclaimer: Just writing. A few of my thoughts at the present time while listening to a few slow, sad songs in the comfort of my own bedroom. Enjoy. This isn’t a poem, or some form of spoken word essay, just a few thoughts I’ve put together in my head in order to release some tension.

I’m sitting here in bed, composed me a remarkable “I’m going through…” playlist on iTunes & pressed shuffle. I was crying before I even made the list and making the list made me cry even harder. Why is it when we’re down & out, we always turn to the saddest ballads for comfort? This is actually all new to me. I used to listen to shit that got me hyped when I was down. Why waste your time listening to music that’s going to make you even more depressed, right? As so I thought.

etcetera [you can use those in your playlist if you must], it really made me think about where I am at this point in my life. The last month has been the BEST month of my life in over 5 years, but the past 3 hours have been the most emotionally draining 3 hours EVER. It’s like being at a theme park and you find that one ride that everyone is like “it’s the best”, and you stand in that long line (but it goes quickly for some reason), and once you’re on the ride…it gets stuck!

Some of you know that I am hopelessly in love but I feel it slipping through my hands. In this song, “I’ll Find A Way” by Blu Cantrell, she begins it by saying:

“the promise of love/it came from my heart/thought all that we shared would last forever/so where did things go wrong/what happened that made things fall apart/why I just don’t know/it’s so hard to let go of someone I used to call my own”

It’s actually more of a “break up” song & I don’t want to claim it but I feel it. The same way I “felt” it the day I said that I was in love. Those words explain EXACTLY how I’m feeling & I thought they would never express the way I was feeling about someone.

Toni’s, “There’s No Me Without You” is another one that touched me deeply. Like I said, I’m just going through & these “slow jams” have me thinking. But I don’t want y’all to think I’m crazy (lol). I just don’t know what else I can do y’all. Maybe it all happened too fast. Ever been in love with someone so much that you can’t even see yourself being “just friends” with them even after it’s all said and done…I’m there.

But I now question did you ever love me at all or did you just say that off of impulse as well? I don’t know why I put that thought in my head because it just made me feel worse inside.

Let's talk about some G.O.O.D. music for a change.

I was introduced to some GREAT music by none other than Big Sean, Kid Cudi, & Kanye themselves within the past week & thought I would share it all with you. Big Sean's track, F_ck U Doin' (Bullsh_ttin'), gave me a light in the end of a dark tunnel. Being the first single from his debut studio album, Finally Famous, he chose a great lead single. From the beginning I was drawn in from with the beat. I've yet to find out who produced it, but I've been waiting for this Detroit native to drop since 2006.

Big Sean's album is slated to be released September 14th. Watch out J. Cole -- I'm just sayin'!

Then I heard this POWERFUL song by Kid Cudi ft. Kanye entitled, Wylin' 'Cause I'm Young, which is the lead single off of his new album, Man On the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. AGAIN, another great song I was drawn into from the beginning. Kanye, as usual, killed his verse -- "geezer, Ebenezer, grab titties prolly catch a f_ckin' seizure" -- the man's a genius.

Teairra Mari is at it again, and this time, I must say she's doing her thing. The 22-year-old Detroit native released her mixtape, Point Of No Return, on August 6th in hopes of climbing back on the charts since her 2005 single, "No Daddy" -- which only grabbed her commercial attention, but nonetheless was a winner to me.

Rumored that her video, "Sponsor" had been ~~banned~~ pulled from airing on BET [I still shake my head at this], she decided to keep it moving. You can't let a minor setback keep you from doing what you love, right? Besides, there's always youtube -- LoL. Point Of No Return is filled with a bunch of remixes from Usher, Alicia Keys, Young Jeezy, and even Drake -- which that song "My Lovin'" was released as her first single off the mixtape. At first listen, I was drawn in by her flow. Now I don't know if she wrote them all (and I'm not trying to start any rumors) BUT if she did, points for her. It's a pretty good mixtape if I must say so myself. Many songs you can dance off of as well.

Yesterday [8.5], the premiere of Kanye's highly-anticipated music video for "Power" [the first single off of his new album]. I first saw the video on MTv & later watched it again on ProjectDuh's website for further review.

Kanye described the video by saying (via twitter: @kanyewest ) "it's not a video .. it's a moving Painting!!!" -- leading me (I know) to speculation of "ooooh snap, I'm sure this is gonna be hot." Needless to say, after watching the video I was left in awe. Trying to figure out what approach he was using & what symbolic undertones were he trying to convey in the long run. As always, I'm bias when it comes to the 33-year-old, Chicago based artist. He's my Beyoncé of rap music -- meaning he can do no wrong in my eyes. So to me, this video was remarkable. I think whatever is chosen as the next single should pick up where this "video" left off, BUT I'm sure whatever he does next will be remarkable as well.

Favre, "Will Return If Healthy"

Not long ago, I got word that Brett Favre was back in the sports news. I figured, what can he be talking about now? Well, we all know that Favre is a media [attention] whore & loves the camera, so when I got news that he said that none of the accusations from yesterday were true, I just couldn't believe it. WTF do you mean, Brett?

Reportedly, in a report conducted in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where he was at a high school training camp, he stated that none of the accusations were true, and that he never sent out any text messages to neither teammates or managerial staff/officials of the Minnesota Vikings. So who came up with this stunt? Brad [Childress], what are you going to do with this man?

The 40-year-old NFL vet has pulled his last straw with me. I have all the respect in the world for the man, but this is the (let's count 'em) FOURTH time this man has pulled this stunt. I mean, the rumors had to stem from somewhere Brett. No one is just going to say that they received text messages from Brett & not really happen. If I had received the message I would report it to ESPN to blast your ass. You're becoming a little too old for that.

Nevertheless, I think that Brett will return BUT this will be his last season. I had just made the comment yesterday about since Favre was retired, wouldn't it be great to have my man, Mike Vick, quarterbacking for the Minnesota Vikings. Now THAT...would be a squad to reckon with -- but then again, that's just wishful thinking. Let's get it together Brett!

Favre Announces Retirement

So I was sitting here texting my baby and on twitter, when I so happen to take a look at the sorry old trending topic chart. Low-and-behold I run across Brett Favre's name taking up the #1 & #3 spot so I knew this had to be serious. I google'd it, thinking the worst was he was suffering from an injury in training camp or something, until I came across the headline "'This Is It', says Favre" [Source.] -- my mouth dropped. I cut on my television and SportsCenter was on & they were ranting about it too. So could this actually be the last time we see Favre?

The Southern Mississippi graduate out of Gulfport, Mississippi, announced his retirement earlier this morning. While playing in the NFL for the past 20 years, he ended his career with the Minnesota Vikings. His last game was against the New Orleans Saints, resulting in a 31-28 lost, ending the season with a 13-5 record [2009]. Completing over 4,200 yards last season and 33 touchdowns, Favre has surpassed many NFL records, even breaking Joe Montana's record for "Most Playoff Passing Yards."

When not even a week ago, the 40-year-old NFL veteran, hadn't decided whether or not he was returning to football or not, allegedly, Brett Favre sent out text messages to teammates & other officials simply stating "this is it." Apparently, this was the preview to his announcement of retiring from the NFL. Yet, why wait so close to the start of preseason to make this decision? This decision not only detriments the team BUT it affects us as fans, as well. During the draft, Vikings official did NOT focus big on offensive. Yes, they picked up Joe Webb [QB - UAB], and Toby Gerhart [RB - Stanford] BUT none of them can help us now.

Now, don't get me wrong, the Vikings still have Tarvarius Jackson [Alabama State]. Even though his stats have not been the most impressive compared to Favre's, it's going to take the help of Peterson, Harvin, Rice, Shiancoe, & Barrian to step up their game as well.

Nevertheless, I'm going to be rooting for the Vikings just as much as I was seasons past. I don't know if I'm going to be putting my money up in favor of them this season, BUT I will be tuned in. We all know Brett is an attention whore though, so maybe this is just a hoax to get the attention back on him again -- wishful thinking.

More Porn, Less Sexual Satisfaction.

It was brought to my attention late Thursday night by a good friend of mine that a study by The Witherspoon Institute showed that the more porn you watched, the less satisfied you become sexually with your partner[s]. So, I google'd it of course trying to find out the scoop on what exactly was said, or meant, by this shocking accusation.

But to me the most important potential cost of porn is its effects on ordinary men and their ordinary relationships. According to Layden: "Exposure to pornography leads men to rate their female partners as less attractive than they would have had they not been exposed and to be less satisfied with their partners' attractiveness, sexual performance, and level of affection, and expressed a greater desire for sex without emotional involvement." Although this statement may not apply to ALL men [or their situations], I did find it to be quite accurate in my case.

Now, I wouldn't go as far as to saying that I find my partner less attractive BUT I do often "pretend" that I am in a porno of my own. I start to mimic moves that I've seen on a porn of some sort and start acting (or should I say performing) as if someone is filming me. It struck me as peculiar because of how much truth was put to it. It then went on to talk about how most men who watch a significant amount of porn, although they wish to have kids, would prefer not to have daughters [yet another true statement in my defense].

She concludes: "For males, more pornography use was associated with greater acceptance of sex outside of marriage for married individuals, greater acceptance of sex before marriage and less child-centeredness during marriage. The reduced desire for children is especially pronounced in a reduced desire for female children."

But little girls are soo much trouble. My aunt always said that "girls are bad when they're little, but boys are bad when they become older". I see the truth to it BUT I still don't want no little girls.

So could this be the cause of my "urge" to masturbate once or twice even after some good sex? I find myself doing it more often now as I've become older but would always tell my partner, "it's not you...I just felt like doing it" -- sometimes they feel as though I wasn't "satisfied" but maybe subliminally...I wasn't. Anyways I found this article quite interesting and figured I'd give my thoughts on it because it hit home.

Porn disconnects the reward system of the male sex drive from the drive to master reality. Porn is nowhere near as satisfying as a real relationship with a woman, but it is a lot easier and much less fraught with the possibility of failure or humiliation. Porn use thus is an aid to sexual failure in men, and a contributor to our ongoing failure to create a culture that connects men and women, parents and children, sex and love.

Chris Brown's Breakdown

In the news lately, there have been talks about the "sincerity" of Chris Brown's Michael Jackson tribute during the 2010 BET Music Awards, that aired on Sunday, June 27, 2010. I've listened to correspondents all over the television and radio "dissect" whether or not Chris did this as a publicity stunt or was it truly a sincere moment for him.

If you haven't seen (or heard about) it by now, Breezy did a tribute to his idol, pop icon Michael Jackson, during the 2010 BET Awards this past Sunday. While everything started off smooth, when it came time for him to sing Man In the Mirror he broke down into tears. It was almost the saddest thing you've ever seen. Initially, I was like look at this dude acting as if he's just sooo emotional over Michael and this song UNTIL it hit me...maybe this song meant MORE to him than just a way to commemorate MJ. I realized that this man was actually crying and then I felt bad.

From my prospective, he took this as a time to look at his own life and face himself "...in the mirror" if you will. His performance was heartfelt and from what I hear, there wasn't a dry eye in the building -- "even grown men were crying", sources at BET tell me. A man truly must hit rock bottom to rise back to the point of stardom where Chris Brown was before his conviction of assault back in 2009 with then girlfriend, Rihanna.

So did you feel that Chris Brown's breakdown was sincere or just a tactic used to make people feel "sorry" for him during this time of healing?

Not Quite 2 Million...

Drake’s album was released June 15^th and everyone was amped to see what his first week sales would look like. With it being the first album being released under Young Money Entertainment, the whole camp was expecting it to do soo much. Drake’s Thank Me Later didn’t quite hit the 2 million records sold that both him & Lil’ Wayne were expecting, BUT it was the 3^rd best-selling first week album of this year thus far – only to fall behind Sade & Lady Antebellum.

Selling 447,000 copies in its first week, Drake really has something to smile about now. Thank Me Later debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart according to Nielsen SoundScan. [Source]

But I think this all goes back to whether or not the album was sold based off of pure hype, or was it his talent that really made this album such a success. I can’t answer if it was neither, but I will tell you that I know a lot of people just bought the album just because it was Drake – take that anyway you want. Nevertheless, the album was a huge feat for not only Drake but Young Money as a movement.

The next artist from the Young Money camp to drop an album will be Nicki Minaj, which will be released in the fall of 2010 – y’all know I can’t wait for that one to hit stores. Hype or Talent – you be the judge.

BETs "Michael Jackson Week"

Black Entertainment Television (enough said) took it upon themselves to celebrate the legacy of pop music icon, Michael Jackson. They took all last week (the first commercial I saw on June 16) reminding everyone to tune in for Michael Jackson week, which would start at 8/7p CST during the week of June 21 – June 25.

On Monday, they took the time to show us The Wiz earlier that day around 10am. Tuesday and Wednesday they wanted to show us that damn The Jacksons: An American Dream movie. Thursday, they showed us the BET Awards from 2009 (which I personally thought was a horrible depiction of how to commemorate someone’s death but I do understand that they had to alter their show to throw something together because it was sudden – no disrespect to Beyoncé’s performance at all). Finally, on Friday (June 25^th – one year mark of his death) they decided to dedicate pretty much the whole day to him. Showing actual specials and shows about him and even dedicating BET’s 106 & Park to him, it was finally the “Michael Jackson Week” I had been expecting.

Instead, BET thought that showing the regular One On One, the Game, and Everybody Hates Chris throughout the day as if it was going to lose (or gain for that matter) ratings for showing something celebrating Michael if only for one week. Not that I have anything against any of those shows – they are all classics and make me laugh – but I just think that something could have been placed in replace of these shows in celebration of “Michael Jackson Week”

I, personally, could have thought of thousands of other ways to observe the death, memory, and legacy of this pop icon. Something as simple as playing MJ’s music videos for 2-3 hours would have been a great gesture to show some sort of respect, even MTV showed some of his videos. I miss the old days when BET would show music videos ALL DAY, even if it was the same videos over-and-over again.

All that I am basically saying is that BET sucks for this and it only feeds my fuel as to why I never waste more than 2 hours a day watching that station – unless a the Game marathon comes on. “Michael Jackson Week” – a big joke. THANKS FOR NOTHING BET!

Apology to B.O.B.

I’m somewhat of the “cultural” guy when it comes to music – meaning I listen to everyone from Carrie Underwood to One Republic to Taio Cruz – but something just never sat right with me when it came to the music of B.O.B. I figured it was because I didn’t know where exactly he was going with his music. It was as if I couldn’t categorize his sound into one genre (which isn’t a bad thing at all). Weeks prior to B.O.B.’s album, B.O.B. Presents: the Adventures of Bobby Ray, I wasn’t really feeling his single, Nothing On You ft. Bruno Mars. Even though he had previously released a single called, Haters Everywhere, back in the summer of 2009 that I was feeling, I knew that it wasn’t going to be on the album.

So when Grand Hustle Entertainment released B.O.B. Presents: the Adventures of Bobby Ray in late April of 2010 I wasn’t excited about it at all. Even after all the hype from my cousins and the craze on twitter, I wasn’t impressed at all.

One day I was sitting at my laptop looking for some new music to download and listen to. B.O.B. CONTINOUSLY decided to pop up in my search every time I typed in “new music”. I finally said “it couldn’t kill me to give it a listen…” – besides, you can’t talk about something unless you know about it, right? So after downloading it, it still took me about 3 days to actually sit down and listen to it. I sat in my room, laptop in lap, logged on to twitter (of course), and double-clicked on B.O.B. Presents: the Adventures of Bobby Ray.

Surprisingly I was impressed. Actually, from beginning to end I was hit with nice production, great lyrics, and an easy flow of good music. From Lupe Fiasco to T.I. from Hayley Williams (of Paramore) to Janelle Monáe, even Fantasia’s older brother (my favorite) Ricco Barrino got his debut feature on a major album. I posted on twitter not long after listening to the album (twice)

So I would like to take this time to apologize to Mr. Bobby Ray Simmons for neglecting his album before even giving it a chance. It’s really a great album you guys, and for those of you whom may not have it or listened to it…give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.

Illegal Immigration Part II

I heard something on the radio this morning that kinda disturbed me...

Listening to the Tom Joyner Morning Show and one of the commentators, Stephanie Johnson, captivated my attention as she always does. Reminding people to remember Father's Day this Sunday and to celebrate Juneteenth -- June 19th, 1865, the day where slaves in Texas were informed of their freedom & the Emancipation Proclamation which was delivered by Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1983 (yes people, 2 years later) -- the more you know, right? She continued to talk about how even today "we" still have to walk around with our papers. She was speaking in regards to legislation in Texas trying to be passed that resembles the same laws that Arizona have now with their immigration laws.

She went on-and-on about how it just doesn't affect Mexicans/Latinos but how it affects light skinned black as well. Now this is where she lost me...and she's a smart woman, but she only gave me another reason to not listen to women and when they talk about anything political. I felt she tried to play that pity shit on the Blacks and, being the gullible culture that we are, would fall for it. It showed me that even intelligent people of our own race still try and plague those whose minds are not informed about a certain situation, make your standpoint, and run with it.

Everyone knows how I feel about the whole immigration thing and feels that it needs to be done. Who gives two flying fucks if the cops stop you because you look like an illegal alien? They stop me us all the time because we "look" like a suspect, because our car "looks" as if it may have drugs. But as long as you have the proper documentation [car insurance & registration], then you sir (and madame) have nothing to worry about. I do feel sorry for those children and other relatives of illegals who may be deported because of something that their parents/elders did by not going about getting legal documentation to stay in the United States but our parents do stuff to kids all the time that hurts us in the long run. You live and you learn -- and this should be a lesson learned.

it's finally here.
the long awaited, highly anticipated, full length album from this 24-year-old Kansas City, Kansas native, Janelle Monae has finally been released. after being signed to Diddy's Bad Boy Records back in late 2007, fans wondered when we would finally get to hear the sweet sounds of Janelle over some rugged beats.

the ArchAndroid (Suites II & III) was released today (May 18th) and is sure to be a pleasure to your ear. if you enjoyed her first suite, Metropolis: The Chase Suite, then I'm more than sure you will enjoy this album. the production of this album is softer but it was done on purpose. it's supposed to be symbolic to a more "softer" side of Janelle, who she likes to call Cindi Mayweather.

if you've been keeping up with her work, you have heard both singles released, Cold War & Tightrope ft. Big Boi -- which have been blazing airways I know through the South like crazy. the album has guest appearances from Big Boi, Saul Williams, Deep Cotton, & one of my favorites, Of Montreal. the whole album was produced by Nate "Rocket" Wonder, Chuck Lightening, & Janelle Monae, herself, for Wondaland Productions, along with Roman GianArthur & Kevin Barnes on a few selected tracks.

some have classified her style as the "female Andre 3000" and even compared her vocals in the same as Lauryn Hill. now, personally, I wouldn't say all of that BUT the lady is good. I have yet to listen to the whole album (just caught a few snippets here & there) but it is in my iTunes and from the buzz and great reviews I've been reading...I can't wait to give it my "first listen".

so a friend brought this song to my attention today about the Dream covering Aaliyah's "One In A Million" song. now this was bound to disappoint me even before I listened to it because I for one just cannot picture the Dream singing ANYTHING by Aaliyah nor can I picture him singing ANYTHING period. so I went to my friend's page and clicked on the link, and to my surprise...

THERE WAS NONE! it was exactly what I thought it would be...HORRIBLE! what would posses this man to re-record Aaliyah's song and try to I guess "revamp" it to make it more of his own. even with his lil' "spin" on things I couldn't make it thru the whole song. I was not convinced at all.

R.I.P. Aaliyah -- I got you girl & I won't let the Dream get any play tryna rip you off. I'll end his career just as soon as I finish killing Taylor Swift's!

Corrective Rape.

what is "Corrective Rape" you may ask?

apparently, being a gay/lesbian in South Africa is to be a target -- a target that has been hit often since 2009. I was sitting at home watchin "E:60" (a segment that comes on ESPN) and there was a segment on entitled "Corrective Rape". me, being the guy that I am, figured that this had to be good since it was something about rape BUT on a television station such as ESPN.

"Corrective Rape" is the term given to a rape that is committed in effort to punish a lesbian and change her sexual orientation. now South Africa's female soccer team is comprised of mostly lesbians and have been hit the hardest. even when these "rapes" are reported to the police department, they are some what overlooked.

80% of South Africans believe that homosexuality is wrong.

even in the video the citizens of these townships have no feelings towards the wrongdoing towards these lesbians. "...they're not apart of our culture", one man said during the video. while watching this video I was SHOCKED! I couldn't believe the words coming out of our people's mouths. it only reminds me of how I DO NOT want to go back to Africa. call me shiesty, call me Westernized, call me what you want but those people...our people -- they ain't right!

Graduation... (oh, the memories)

it's that time of year...

schools out, finals are done, and graduation is here. that's right, time for the real world. the topic of graduation always "touches" me in some way. I get emotional when I think of people, especially my Black brothers and sisters, doing positive things in life. I know a few people who took (or will be taking) that next step in life.

it brings me back to that "sensation" I felt the day I graduated from Dillard University back in 2006. it was early in the A.M. (around 8ish) and we're sitting out on "the Oaks". our speaker was Dr. Bill Cosby & Dillard had just elected its first female president of the university. then it was time to distribute out the degrees. I remember walking up to the stage and my brother was the last person I saw -- he was calling my name and I looked back with a big smile and pointed at him (it's still a highlight of my life). "Gary L. Butler" -- Dr. Wiltz called as I walked across the stage to hear all of my friends & family screaming my name. it was the best minute of my life & the most excited I've been in a long time. even when thinking about friends I've watched graduate I get excited for them -- sometimes I think too excited.

this was just a little something to congratulate everyone on a job well done & also a welcome to the "real world". Sallie Mae will be calling you in about 6 months, so brace yourself. make sure you pay her too because she will garnish your checks -- she don't play when it comes to her money. and for those of you who are going off to graduate/law school...I wish u the same. I'll be there next year.

sir Drake's second single Find Your Love from his highly anticipated debut album, Thank Me Later was released earlier this morning. it just may have been the world premiere I watched this morning on MTv as I was getting dressed for work.

the video was of course, cinematic -- meaning it had a storyline, plot, and all that good stuff -- and from first look I was drawn into it. it's about reconnecting with a girl before you have that "what if" moment and doing whatever is in your power to get back with her, yet...she stabs you in the heart! the video didn't turn up on the internet until around 10:30am but of course I was at work and couldn't work/post accordingly.

here it is. tell me what are your thoughts on the video? is it as good as his first video for Over or should Drake take a step back from singing and continue rapping? I personally, love the song & the video -- the leading lady, Maliah Michel, looked hot in it as well!

keeping relevant with guest appearances on other albums, dropping two mixtapes since her last album, Still Da Baddest, and gracing the covers of many magazines...SHE'S BACK! after many push backs before the official release of the album, Miss Trina has done it again. back with her fifth studio album, Amazin', it is sure to please.

15 tracks in [16 if you purchased it from iTunes] I liked all except two tracks. but with time I'm sure I'll still learn the words to even those songs -- LoL. with guest appearances from Monica, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Lil' Wayne, Flo Rida, Lyfe Jennings, and a few others, this album is definitely showing you why she still claims to be "the baddest b_itch in the game". from first listen I was brought back to her album, Glamorest Life, which was also a good album but not as good as Still Da Baddest. the production and content is pretty much the same from Glamorest Life album but the sexual content has toned down quite a bit -- but that's what I miss from her!

her latest single, Always ft. Monica, is a hit. released a month ago today [April 5th] it's #66 on Billboard's Top 100 R&B/Hip-Hop Singles charts. I am mad that they switched Lady Gaga off of the track Let Them Hoes Fight and replaced her with Kalenna [of Dirty Money] but it's still one of my favorite tracks.

I want Trina to deliver me an album like her first, Da Baddest Bitch, just raw and uncut. I understand she's on her grown woman ish now and trying to show us how she's making bread, but if she just gives us [her fans] just ONE more album like the first...it'll start something else, something that we'll all love. if you're a Trina fan, as I am, you will enjoy this album.

the Boondocks premiered its first episode of its third season tonight on Cartoon Network. with soo much hype and anticipation behind it, it had to be a success.

"real niggas don't follow instructions" --

the first show of the third season featured who else but our president, Barack Obama. bringing back his tribulations that he encountered throughout this campaign from the ordeal with his pastor to our own black people not being aware of the political race altogether. one memorable part of this show was when they "re-made" Will.I.Am's "Yes We Can" song, entitling it "Dick Riding" ft. Thugnificent -- it was hilarious. "...it's okay to ride a dick, just as long as its Barack's" LMAO. funny right?

I love how they kept mentioning Beyonce's name in this episode too, in regards to the Inauguration Ball, plus, the fact that the people are mad that she's coming out with another video, Why Don't U Love Me, soon. LMAO -- they can't take her! but anyways, not to get off the subject.

I love the fact that they showed the "racial" side of the election as well. confronting "Thugnificient" about being sooo politically conscious but couldn't name the 3 branches of government. how Blacks used Obama as an excuse to do just anything. and now that he is in office, how people turned his back on him.

all-in-all, coming from someone who isn't a fan, I found this episode to be okay. it had its moments where it was real funny and it also had a message behind it. if you ever get a chance to watch it, you won't be disappointed!

Racial Profiling...my ass!

BIG shoutout to Arizona --
Friday, Governor Jan Brewer (R - AZ), signed a bill that requires law enforcement to question the immigration status of its "citizens". now there has been plenty uproar over this bill signing especially among the Hispanic community in Arizona. many see it as a great idea to start getting rid of the illegal immigrants here and the states, whereas some see it as "racial profiling"

Brewer has ordered state officials to develop a training course for officers to learn what constitutes reasonable suspicion someone is in the U.S. illegally. Civil rights advocates vowed to challenge the law in court, saying it would lead to racial profiling despite the governor's assurances.
Supporters dismissed concerns about racial profiling, saying the law prohibits the use of race or nationality as the sole basis for an immigration check.
The bill's sponsor, Republican Sen. Russell Pearce, said opponents are using racial profiling as a cover for their true concern — deportation.

I find it funny how they consider this to be "racial profiling" but then again, I can understand where they're coming from. as an African-American MALE I do understand the scrutiny of racial profiling and feel that it comes with the territory. but hell, profile their asses. half of em aren't even citizens and need to be deported. anyone who knows me, knows my viewpoint on immigrants, especially illegal ones -- the ones who don't "...speaka no Engliish". I wouldn't plan a trip to Mexico without learning a tap of Spanish...where they do dat at?

there's a reported number of 460,000 ILLEGAL immigrants in the state of Arizona already. President Obama has called the law "misguided" and wants the Department of Justice to examine the provisions once more to make sure it is all legal. hopefully this law will encourage other politicians in Washington to finally get something done.

State Sen. Rebecca Rios, a Phoenix Democrat and fourth-generation Arizonan, said she's concerned about her 14-year-old son being harassed by police because of his brown skin, black hair and dark-brown eyes.
"I don't want my son or anyone else's son targeted simply because of their physical characteristics," Rios said. "There's no reason I should have to carry around any proof of citizenship, nor my son."

advocates are afraid that this new law will also make a bigger divide between Arizona's law enforcement and it's Hispanic citizens.

I for one am all for this law. I can't wait until California, Florida, New York, Texas, and New Mexico adopt if not the same, but similar, laws to help fight against this nationwide problem of illegal immigration. it's time to sweep this country clean and get it together. like I said, I understand families will be split, and we may even have to shut a few "spots" down but in the end it'll all be worth it. either get you some legal documentation or -- not to be rude -- GET THE F_CK!

Notre Dame's First Black Valedictorian

her name is Katie Washington and she hails from Gary, Indiana.

in 161 years of issuing degrees to the likes of Phil Donahue, Regis Philbin, and Hannah Storm, Notre Dame will have it's first black valedictorian in the history of the institution. Katie, carrying a perfect 4.0 GPA and majoring in biology with a minor in Catholic social teaching, said that she was "...humbled by the honor of being named valedictorian". after graduation, she plans to pursue a joint M.D./Ph.D program at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Katie Washington, a biological sciences major from Gary, Ind., has been named valedictorian of the 2010 University of Notre Dame graduating class and will present the valedictory address during Commencement exercises May 16 (Sunday) in Notre Dame stadium.

when I first heard the news, I smiled...BIG! I was shocked, yet astonished at the same time. I felt a sense of pride at the same time, feeling that I was proud of her and yet, I don't even know this chick. LoL. wonder how long it'll take for her "facebook" pics to start circulating. I admit, I was looking for them. but she seems like a good girl, we'd probably have to get her drunk before all that!

it's no secret that Nas & Kelis have been seperated for quite some time now, but now Kelis wants a divorce and QUICKLY. the hip-hop duo have been going through a difficult seperation for almost a year now. with a child involved, Knight, the couple have tried to make amends over and over again but I guess the strain on the relationship was just too hard.

“A Los Angeles judge dismissed the contempt allegation against the rapper Monday after he paid nearly $50,000 in child support to his estranged wife Kelis. Kelis’ attorney sought the contempt charge earlier this year after Nas fell $200,000 behind on child and spousal support payments. He was ordered in December to pay more than $51,000 a month to Kelis and their infant son.

on Monday, Nasir Jones was ordered to appear in court. it's been speculated that he owed over $290,000 in back child support, accounting, and legal expenses accrued during this bout. having come to an agreement outside of court, the Jones' agreed to a payment of $88,000.

Kelis stated earlier this week that she now wants a divorce as quick as possible. "the quicker, the better" the songstress made to a reliable source -- after only 3 years of marriage. Nas, himself, says that he can't wait until all of this is over. saying that all he wants "...to do is make music and raise my kids [including daughter, Destiny, from a previous relationship]. Nothing else matters".

I don't know about y'all but I REALLY would like to see them get back together on the slick. I loved them two together. I think they were "a cappella" -- corny, I know! LoL.

so this is how the story goes...
back in October of 2008, if any of you can recall, there were a lot of death threats going on surrounding then Senator Barack Obama during his presidential campaign. a lot of people thought it was just a hoax and some believed in the scandal. well authorities had gotten him in custody and he's been sitting in a jail in Arkansas ever since then.

well the verdict is in so his sentence can begin.
Arkansas native, Paul Schlesselman was sentenced in an Arkansas federal court this past Thursday and will be serving 10 years. Apparently he pleaded guilty back in January but you know how slow our judicial system can be at times. saying that he[Schlesselman] had planned for over a month to "murder dozens of people with a focus on murdering African Americans, the Justice Department said."

He planned to go on a series of robberies, burglaries and murders that would have ended with the killing of Obama, the Justice Department said.

I was having a conversation with a good friend of mine earlier about the situation and I was tellin' him how I had been preaching to people during the presidential campaigns how the people are NOT as ready for change as they think they are. there are still some bitter people out there. I still can't believe that he was only sentenced to 10 years though. LoL. I was saying that if he was somewhere like Louisiana, he would've gotten fried -- straight to the electric chair, but aye, that's why he's in Arkansas. I guess long enough for him to master his plan of what he'll do when he gets out, right?

I found this QUITE interesting...
I was probing my fourth favorite site, CNN.com, and stumbled upon a video of this woman, Lisa Murphy, from Canada who created/wrote this book entitled "Tactile Mind". Murphy, who's been blind since birth, spent over 2 years making this book and the models used in the "braille" enhanced used masks to cover their faces because it made them more comfortable to pose nude.

she's [Murphy] selling her homemade book, Tactile Mind, for a mere $225 and has sold less than 100 copies. hmm...I wonder why?

$47.5M NFL Contract!!!

on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, former Denver Broncos wide receiver, Brandon Marshall (#15) received a phone call from his agent saying that he was being traded to the Miami Dolphins. "...growing up in Orlando" the 6'4, 230 pound, 26-year-old Pittsburgh native was offered a 4 year contract where he will receive $47.5 MILLION dollars over that time frame.

Marshall, who had spent four years with the Broncos totaling 4,000+ yards during his reign, was interviewed by Rich Eisen (interview video link below) as he talked about how excited he is about the trade. joining the likes of Ricky Williams and Davone Bess on offense, the Dolphins offensive game should be pretty good this season. with all these changes/trades going around now, I'm just ready for the season to begin.

he {Marshall] just made 26 in March too. maybe I'm in the wrong profession but I need to get on some major money like dat. when are next years tryouts? I brought the issue up in class to a few of my male students making the comment "do you know what I would do with $1 million, let alone 47 of dem thangs." LoL.

well this has been going on for quite some time now but before the preseason begins there have been MANY changes to some of our favorite NFL rosters.

none of this is new, but I was late getting to it so please forgive me (those who actually wait on me to blog about things of such nature)...

by now I guess we all know that former Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback, Donovan McNabb, has been traded to the frickin' Washington Redskins. hmm...my thoughts on this you may ask? does this mean that Michael Vick is gonna start this season? RIGHT, next subject. I think that his reign in Philadel has expired a long time ago. sources say the owners of the Eagles are going for a "younger" team, so this means that it was about time for Sir McNabb to throw da deuces.

on the bright side, both LaDainian Tomlinson and Santonio Holmes have been traded over to the New York Jets -- yes with pitiful ass Sanchez. so with all this talent on offense for the Jets, does this mean their chances at the playoffs, or even better, the SuperBowl are greater? my opinion...HELL NO! I know that Mark Sanchez is fairly new [this is his second year] and hasn't yet adjusted from his good ol' college days at USC [University of Southern California] but him given that much talent will only make him and his backs/receivers look worse.

do I wish both Sanchez & McNabb much success during this season? hmm...maybe just about as much success as I wish Drew Brees in this next season. *side eye*

the influence of "weed" today amongst our youth is incredible. I know students 13-14 years old who have admitted that they won't come to school OR will be checked out of school if they are not "high". they all claim that it calms their nerves. sounds like old people, right? RIGHT!

now, I'm not going to sit here and act as if I'm some saint BUT I think there's a time and place for everything and school is NOT the place. I would think that (and remember, this is solely my opinion) one would get tired of smelling like marijuana. I would think that excessive smoking would be thought of as a problem and not looked at as being "cool". I would think that after a certain period in life, one would give up the habit, but this isn't MY WORLD. and maybe I shouldn't base this entire entry solely on marijuana but associate it with smoking in general. I would think that because marijuana is illegal in the United States that it would put some type of fear into peoples hearts/heads...YET, I think that's the thrill in smoking marijuana!

this coming November 2010, the state of California will have a public vote on the legalization of marijuana and its usage in the state. now just off the pretense of the notion, I can guarantee you three things:

this will be the BIGGEST voting turnout in the history of the state
(if passed) the state of California's population will grow tremendously within the following year or two; and
the notion of legalized marijuana will sting but the thrill of smoking will die.

now everyone asks what exactly do I mean by my last statement. well, what I mean by "the notion of legalized marijuana will sting, but the thrill of smoking will die" is that hell yeah, legalizing marijuana is going to be fun, liberating even, BUT as time passes, people won't smoke it as often. I REALLY do believe (and this is my theory) that people only smoke that "Maui wowie" because they're not supposed to, and if this becomes legal and they don't have to hide anymore, people will lose interest in the habit.

now if this bill passes, of course it's going to try to spread across the nation into other states in support of legalizing it as well. but I honestly don't think that "red" states, such as, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, etc. would even entertain the fact of legalizing marijuana, let along giving its citizens an option to vote on it. GTFOH!

Nicki Minaj's first official single, Massive Attack, was premiered today on BET's 106 & Park and the fans & "non-fans" were locked in nonetheless, ready to see just what Nicki had in store for us. the song features the likes of Sean Garrett, and the video also has another "crush" of mine, Amber Rose.

I honestly wasn't too wild about it but I do love the song (and I mean LOVE). but then again, I am and will continue to be a fan so I guess I'm kind of biased in my opinion.

they say he's back BUT honestly I don't think he ever went anywhere.

this Tuesday (March 30, 2010) the long awaited sixth studio album from my favorite male R&B artist, Usher, will be hitting stores.

Raymond v. Raymond is sure to be a hit. I'm still confused on why Here I Stand wasn't such a success (especially since it featured the likes of Beyonce on that thang, LoL) but nevertheless, I felt it was a good album. It wasn't to the likings of 8701 or even near Confessions BUT, all-in-all it was a good album.

so what can we expect from this album...?

well after listening to it (yes, I got it like that) I must say I wasn't TOTALLY impressed but I do see what direction he's going in. if you didn't like Here I Stand chances are you won't be too crazy about this album neither, BUT if you were a fan or Here I Stand (as I am), then you won't be disappointed.

he has production from Jermaine Dupri, Bangladesh, the Runners, and my favorite, Polow da Don -- just to name a few. he has features from Will.I.Am, Ludacris, and the second hottest chick in the rap game, Nicki Minaj (Trina is "still da baddest" to me).

make sure you all go out and support on Tuesday, March 30th. remember we have to keep the industry alive, and burning, downloading albums just won't cut it. EVERYONE has to make money.

I am NOT a relationship expert, neither do I claim or aspire to be...

BUT when my friends have relationship problems I'm always the one they run to. maybe it's because of my direct/uncut [no pun] approach at situations or maybe it's because I tell them what it is rather than telling them what they want to hear? whatever the situation may be, I'm glad they turn to me.

so here's the dilemma...

I'm getting up in age and the question of marriage always arises when I talk to some. *side eye* NOW, I do have friends who are married and they come to me with advice all the time [both male and female]. but I am gonna speak from the males' point of view as of now because I can relate to it better -- believe it or not!

so twice within the past 3 weeks I've been approached by [married] friends who've asked me questions related to sex (LoL...of course). BOTH have said that their wives have slacked up on sex and they're not understanding why. BOTH considered cheating and even asked me if I would "hook them up" with someone I knew. NOTE: I wouldn't do that because I believe in marriage and believe that it's a sacred bond that shouldn't be tainted, and if it is, I don't want anything to do with it. but why is that that when people get married, the sex ends?

frankly, I can't answer that question because frankly, I don't know. I do believe though that when you are married it's just like the seal on the deal. NOW I'm not saying this happens in every marriage BUT I do know that it happens a lot.

this is where I step in...

now marriage should be thought out carefully. I, for one, do not believe in divorce but I'm a firm believer in marriage, when it's done right. not because a girl had a baby for you, or you've been together since 6th grade and we're graduating high school, so why not get married? there are reasons beyond reason why you should be careful who you marry. these young people who get married like right after high school, scare me. it's honestly a waste of money & heartache. high school love is different after you take off those caps & gowns.

just remember that when you get married, your sex life dwindles...so stay single, buy condoms, and have fun while you can. save marriage for the 30s. you'll thank me in the future!

Eva & Lance..."break up"

well, well, well...

after hearing speculation about my third favorite "Hollywood" couple breaking up yesterday (via twitter, of course) I had to do some investigating on my own.

although word hasn't spread yet, it has been confirmed that this alleged "break up" is real. Lance Gross & Eva Marcelle have been engaged since Christmas of 2008 but I guess as time passes, people change. only five months before they were supposed to get married, the two decided to mutually end their relationship.

it just all was a shock to me because I just knew this one was gonna last BUT something tells me this isn't the last we will see of these two together. I REALLY don't think that it's over. a reliable source [lmao] told me that Eva & Lance got into a dispute shortly after attending a SuperBowl Sunday party. now I can go on-and-on about what exactly I "think" went on at this party BUT I won't -- that's not my thing. BUT those of you who know me and how I felt about the whole Rihanna/Chris Brown situation, KNOW what I think went on.

all I have to say is I wish them both the best and I really hope they get back together. they were too cute of a couple to let a beautiful thing go because Eva was being flirtatious with someone in the corner at the SuperBowl party -- oops! [*smile*]

so if we didn't already know this...we now must be even more careful as to what we DON'T even post on the internet nowadays. as I watched CNN on my break yesterday from work, I stumbled upon this story Can You Be Outed on Facebook? CNN correspondent, Ali Velshi was hosting Newsroom & these two "researchers", Behram Mistree & Carter Jernigan, were basically saying that "birds of a feather...flock together"

they say that even when you don't highlight or answer questions, such as, sexual orientation, there are ways of finding out stuff all from looking through your friends list on Facebook. now WTF does this have to do with anyone? now, you have to be careful with whom you associate yourself with on Facebook, whether he/she stays 400 miles away. hell...I don't even know 1/4 of the people I'm friends with on Facebook.

that's why I say be careful who you're accepting on these sites...facebook, twitter, myspace, or whatever. people are sneaky & conniving -- you better watch em.

well the Democrats have done it again.

watchin C-SPAN all day yesterday looking at the heated debate between our delegates in the House, the issue was Health Care Reform, and after a number of years, it has finally been passed and will be put into legislation on Tuesday, after president Obama signs of course.

the bill was passed last night with a 219-212 [Democrats - Republicans] vote. all 178 Repubican representatives voted against the bill along with 34 Democrats -- see, even some of them think that it's not such a good idea. :-D

so what happens now?

well after the bill is signed on Tuesday it has been said that it will reduce the national deficit, reduce the cost of name branded prescription/medication, and give every American the opportunity to have some health insurance.

"Most Americans will now be required to have health insurance or pay a fine. Larger employers will be required to provide coverage or risk financial penalties. Total individual out-of-pocket expenses will be capped and insurers will be barred from denying coverage based on gender or pre-existing conditions.
The compromise package would add to the bill's total cost partly by expanding insurance subsidies for middle- and lower-income families. The measure would scale back the bill's taxes on expensive insurance plans." to read the whole article

all in all we won't see any big chances until the beginning of 2020.

I personally am AGAINST this health care reform bill and I wish that public vote was pushed for this bill. there are a lot of concerns I have dealing with this bill and I don't think that it was carefully sought out. "People" heard the word FREE health care and was like, "oh yeah, we want that". hell, it's free, who wouldn't want it.

so what do we do about our insurance companies? what does this do for our doctors who will now be overworked more than anything now? overcrowded hospitals -- people didn't go to the hospital before BUT they will now -- what about our individual rights? the RIGHT to choose what we wanted to do with our money, but u tell me that if I don't have healthcare you're going to issue me a FINE? and just how much is this fine, if I decide not to invest in healthcare? is it just me or does the government have a little bit TOO much control over what we can/should do with OUR money?

but hey, what do I know? I'm just some poor, country, college graduate with a bachelors of arts in political science, who's voice isn't as big as pressing the button in the voting booths. but this is America, right? I'm just saying.

Chris Brown's career in jeopardy.

Chris Brown is in dear need of the help of his fans. speculation and recent posts have dawned on me that maybe Chris Brown isn't doing as well as we all may think he is. due to the lack of radio participation in the selling & playing of his singles from his lastest album Graffiti it's very rare you hear Chris Brown, let alone, see him.

stemming back from his domestic encounter with ex-girlfriend, Rihanna, back in early 2009, Chris' career has been in great jeopardy. but though it all, some fans (including myself) stuck by him.

Graffiti was released in the states early December 2009 and has since then slowly moved up & down the charts. to me it was like an apologetic album with slow mid-tempo'd songs that he through all over the album, with a touch of what we're used to hearing from Chris every now and then. but due to the lack of radio play and many stations not supporting even his music videos, the 20-year-old Virginia native hasn't been as successful with this album as we hoped him to be.

he released a statement saying:

"Some radio stations aren't playing my records...they're not being that supportive and I wouldn't expect them to. But it's on the fans...It's in your power to bring me back."

earlier this year, Brown released a mixtape In My Zone (Rhythm & Streets) hosted by DJ Sense & DJ Drama that made even the most doubtful of fans who thought he'd lost it musically, believe in him again. with bass filled hits, and covering some of the best songs out lately, he surely delivered this time. but it's a mixtape, ain't no money being made there, right?

so are we gonna try to keep supporting Mr. "Take U Down" or is this the end of Chris Brown as we know it?

the premiere of the long awaited Gaga & Beyonce video for "Telephone" -- which is Gaga's 6th number 1 single from her album, The Fame: Monster -- was released on Thursday. of course there were leaked versions of the video throughout the day, more and more as it came close for the video to premiere BUT you can tell the differences between the leaked version and the official one.

I won't say much about it because "music videos" isn't really my forte, especially when it comes to anything with Beyonce because I'm automatically going to say it was "album of the year" (thanks Kanye) -- LoL.

this 9-minute + video is great from start to finish. with it's great use of color, and it's great casting (I love the butch females in the jailhouse scene & let's not forget Tyrese Gibson's appearance) this video is sure to sweet away some awards later part of this year. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

reading an article in today's newspaper, the Advocate, I ran across a piece that struck my attention. the headline read: Official arrested for DUI: 'I'm gay'

now initially I'm like WTF is this all about. apparently Monday, in Sacramento, California, state Sen. Roy Ashburn [R], reported that he was gay after days of speculation that began after his arrest for driving while under the influence.

Ashburn, 55, and the father of four kids, rumor has it that he was leaving a gay nightclub shortly before he got pulled over and later arrested for his DUI charge. he then went on to tell a talk show host, Ingra Barks, that

"I am gay ... those are the words that have been so difficult for me for so long."

this is where I have a problem. now I KNOOOOOOW there is more to cover in the world than to flood even a small piece of my paper with nonsense like that. I thought that this was a waste of space and felt that it could have been saved for a local blog of some sort.

I mean do we REALLY CARE if the Senator of California is gay or NOT??? I mean really!

as I prepare for this next step in my life, I find myself having to dig back into my childhood and relive my days as a child and trying to remember how much I valued education, just as much as I do today. education has been the drive behind the being I am today. I value education & everything that comes with it. I love to see people push forward and continue their education. it's soo challenging, especially nowadays, to keep focused but I have great friends who've helped me along the way.

after much procrastination, I finally took the time to look over my law school applications and began reading some material. while reading over it, I FORGOT that I had to write a "personal statement" along with the rigorous application. this 'statement' is to inform the institution about YOU -- preferably in less that three pages.

now how am I to sum up my educational background in three pages?

those who know me know when I start writing I can go on for days & days, sometimes gettin off subject but it all makes sense at the end (LoL).

I'm sure this is gonna take me at least 3-5 days to write (today's Tuesday, so I'll probably be writing until Friday/Friday night) but I'm sure it'll be well worth it.

as the time approaches for trading, drafting, and all that good stuff for the new football season (which I, myself, cannot wait for), one thing has been bothering me since...well, around this time last year actually,

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH MICHAEL VICK?

I'm concerned about my second favorite quarterback (first being Brett Favre) in the NFL today. what's next for this 29 year old Virginia Tech alumni?

I've been doing some research and came across a few articles on both yahoo & ESPN.com and frankly I'm not really surprised as to the commotion going on around him and the upcoming season.

Vick's record with the Eagles wasn't too impressive, if I must say so myself. but we all knew that was coming. Michael Vick, all that talent, being overcast by Eagles franchise player, Donovan McNabb -- of course Mike wasn't gonna get to show his talent often. the man only had 6 of 13 completions for 86 yards last season, 1 touchdown, and obtained 95 yards from 24 rushing attempts. let's just say, we KNOW the man is capable of more.

according to yahoo.com, there are 5 possibilities for Vick to advance this season. NOTE: I do not like these teams selected, I'm just going by my sources.

we have the Carolina Panthers, the St. Louis Rams, the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, & the Philadelphia Eagles -- I'll address each on accordingly.

Carolina Panthers. in an interview with hot 107.9 [Atlanta], Vick himself said that if he could play for any team in the league, two came to mind, and one would be the Carolina Panthers. hmm...the Carolina Panthers. Jake Delhomme. I don't think he's going anywhere soon. with his impressive tract record from last season, I don't think Jerry Richardson [Panthers owner] will be giving that spot up soon. but he said he would like Carolina because they play the Falcons twice a year & he likes their uniforms. he forgot to add 'no homo' in that statement. LoL. I got u Vick!

St. Louis Rams. now this teams offense lacks talent. Vick would be too much of an asset to this team. he wouldn't have much to work with, therefore making him look worse than what he is. they do have Steven Jackson in at running back, but I don't think this would be a good move Vick.

Buffalo Bills. hmmm...Michael Vick & Terrell Owens on the same team -- I just might have to tune in to these games. this would be an offense not even Darren Sharper and the rest of the Saints could even fuck with. this would be a good look Mike, keep this team in mind!

Oakland Raiders. I won't say much about this team except I know that they're dedicated 100% behind Mr. JaMarcus Russell himself. I wouldn't pay this team any mind sir. LoL

Philadelphia Eagles. if Donovan gets traded to the St. Louis Rams as sports analysis have been speculating, then this wouldn't be a bad idea. the Eagles do have a $1.5million roster bonus for Vick anyway, and I think it would be to their advantage to use this. I like Vick with the Eagles, personally.

so what should he do? I say either stick to the Eagles, move to Buffalo with T.O., or move down to Florida and get rid of that trash they call a quarterback, Pat White -- who was said to have been injured back in early January. hmm, wonder how that's going?

either way it goes Michael Vick would be a great asset to any team that he is on. I can't wait until this upcoming football season, well fuck, I can't wait until the draft in April.

as Cupid flies his lil stubby self though the air shooting his arrow in the hearts of lovers everywhere across the nation, he doesn't quite seem to shoot everyone...

as an active advocate for the anti-Valentine campaign since 2005, I have never felt any stronger in my decision to boycott this 'holiday'. why am I so avid in protesting this day -- a day that was meant for expressing your love and just enjoying that quality time with your significant other? there are reasons among reasons I can begin listing as to why, but I'll save 'em for another time. LoL.

but there are some guys (and girls) I know who make the point to be single around Valentine's Day. I have a best friend who got into a big fight over nothing with his girlfriend just to avoid having to be extravagant on Valentine's Day. this was a plan he brewed up back in December. he always finds a way to "mess up" or even "break up" with his girl around the holidays -- yes, this isn't just a Valentine ritual. LoL. so why bother, you may be wondering?

well everybody wants somebody but some people just are not cut out for these "mushy" occasions. Valentine's Day is for women but men have become attracted to this holiday as well (and I'm not just speaking of homosexuals neither). I think because there has been a set date marked on our calendars, that it excuses the rest of the year. your mate wants to be catered to on more than one day out of 365 (366 on a leap year), so why do we wait until Valentine's to go all out? although I am single (and have been since 2005 around this time of year *awkward silence*) I try and make everyday (and night) we are together just as special as the day marked for it.

so take the time today and do some things that you normally would not do on this day...

listen to your mate
find out each others likes and dislikes (for leisure & about each other)
try talking to him/her the whole day without mentioning sex -- yeah, WITHOUT mentioning sex!
make him/her a mix CD of tracks that remind u of them (ie. ProjectDuh's track listing)
take the time to talk about your future together.
buy his/her mother/sister a gift

I had to laugh as I read through a few of these ideas I stated myself. they sound a little ridiculous but really, think about it.

REMEMBER: don't spend your hard earned money on buying something for your significant other that will be sentimental after the big break-up. it is only going to become trash or given to the next.

give out originals. homemade cards are always thoughtful AND if they get thrown away, it will not mean that much to you or them. you don't want to become victim to seeing something you gave an ex on another man's arm, now would you?

so as I continue to protest this day, remember that "love doesn't cost a thing", but "you gotta pay to play". let's face it, at the end of the day it's all about the sex anyway. so Happy Valentine's Day to you all and don't forget your condoms. and if you're spending the day alone like I am, go out and laugh at couples all day. it'll keep you smiling and make you realize how miserable half of these couples are anyway.

PS. if you have just started dating after January of this year -- YOU SHOULD NOT BE BUYING HIM/HER ANYTHING!!! you better save that money. you'll thank me next Wednesday.

SuperBowl XLIV match up. the New Orleans Saints v. the Indianapolis Colts

Sunday, February 7, 2009 -- Sun Life Stadium - Miami Gardens, Florida

so the Saints pull off SuperBowl XLIV defeating the Colts 31-17. it was the Saints first SuperBowl appearance and surprisingly...they won. a pretty exciting game if I must say so myself.

the night started off pretty slow with the Saints winning the toin coss but not doing much with the ball in its first possession and having to punt it after a quick 3 and out. first half of play was pretty boring, both teams only giving us mediocre performances and ending out the half at 10-6 (Indianapolis up).

so what happened in the second half.

well time was on the Saints side. along with some minor mistakes made by the Colts but in this game -- EVERY MISTAKE COUNTS! neither team has a good defense so I won't say too much on it, BUT former LSU running back, Joseph Addai, ran for a measly 77 years today which I also think kept back the Colts offensively. Tracy Porter (Saints cornerback) completed an interception with a little more than 3 minutes left in the game, which was the result of the Colts losing.

pretty good game. pretty tight game. not as tight as I wanted it to be but all well. alls well that ends well...right?

congratulations to the New Orleans Saints and to Drew Brees for becoming tonights game MVP.

gays...in the military?

Historically during times of recession, military recruitment picks up and it's easy to understand why. The military guarantees a steady paycheck, housing and medical benefits that in a stressed economy may be hard to find.

the issue of gays in the military has been a hot political debate since the beginning of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" that was signed back in 1993 under the Clinton administration. "'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' authorizes the discharge of an American soldier for coming out as gay, lesbian, or bisexual." saying that it would "create an unacceptable risk to the high standards of morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion that are the essence of military capability." (Debate: Gays in the US military, Oct 2009). while most conservatives want to ban openly gay people from serving in the militia, liberals see no problem with the issue at all.

a statement was releasted by the House of Armed Service Committee back in 2009 saying

"Our focus in Fiscal Year 2009 will be to continue to recruit quality men and women with the right character, commitment, and drive into our Corps." -- Lt. Gen. Ronald S. Coleman, deputy commandant for Manpower and Reserve Affrairs

so does this statement also include openly gay people?

what's the worst that can happen? are they afraid that gay people are going to come and try and alter the standard uniform for the military? are they afraid that "Lt. Dan" is going to be looked at as less of a man and not given as much respect simply because his significant other is of the same sex? afraid that they will try to replace the American flag with the "stereotypical" rainbow flag at the end of combat?

Americas opinion. in 2008, the Washington Post--ABC News took a public poll as to whether or not gays should be allowed to serve openly in the military. of course America would be behind this. where 75% of Americans -- 80% of democrats, 75% of independents, and 66% of conservatives -- said that they don't mind openly gay people serving our country.

I don't see the fuss either. there shouldn't be much debate over something as simple as this anyway. who cares whether or not someone is gay, lesbian, or bisexual. anyone who is willing to fight for their country, regardless of race, color, background & in this case, sexual orientation, should be allowed too. hell, I know I don't want to if I don't have to so why not let those who want to -- do so. again, this is another issue that is tying up the hands and cluttering the desks of our dear political figures where there really should not even be much focus on to begin with.

let us get real just for a minute. everyone knows about the devastation that raged the country of Haiti not even a month ago, but just in case you missed it...

Tuesday, January 12, 2010 an earthquake measuring at 7.0 on the Richter scale raged the country of Haiti around 5pm their time in the small city of Leogane, located just sixteen miles west of Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince. since then over fifty-two after shocks have been recorded all measuring 4.5 or greater on the Richter scale. damaging not only buildings, road, churches, and businesses, but families and unfortunately lives. with a death toll said to be exceeding that of the tragic 9/11 events that happened here in the United States this is a great loss and a calamitous time for our neighbors in Haiti.

but what now? after nearly a month after this destruction, Haitians are still in dying need of everything. *brace yourself* little do people know, even before this earthquake that Haiti was an impoverished third world country struggling from day-to-day. homelessness was at an all-time high, the economy was law, kids were in orphanages...everything wasn't BAD but I will say that they were never really a well-off country. it is sad that it took an earthquake to make people realize that something finally needed to be done about this problem. so what is being done now?

the United States. I can't speak for the rest of the world (neither do I care about the efforts any other country is making to help the Haitians honestly) but I feel that the United States is not stable enough -- at this point especially -- itself to go and rebuild a country, especially from scratch. we (America) are in a recession, an all-time high at unemployment (10% nationwide) and we, ourselves, already have thousands of displaced kids in orphanages around the nation. yet, we have the audacity to run to help a country when we are pinching pennies ourselves.

whatever happened to taking care of home first. I thought our founding fathers and great philosphers before us established to the world that we were already THE dominant force of this world. I applaud and am respectful to those who have donated in this time of need but now is the time to bring the focus back home. especially after Obama's State of the Union address speech, I think he was subliminally telling Americans that we needed to refocus and get this economy back in shape and maybe help along the way.

Haiti is going to be okay. as of January 20th, nearly $500 million has been donated to it's people in helps of this country's relief from the US, Canada, France, the UK, etc. I even think I remember reading somewhere (sorry I don't remember the source) where the President of Senegal (Africa) even offered the people of Haiti free land in the region. I know this isn't nearly enough to rebuild a nation but it's more than they've seen in a long time. if the same thing happened in California next week (God forbid) they would not receive as much attention as Haiti has and it's because we're Americans and the world doesn't like us -- until some money is needed and there goes our administration just signing off checks. I'm over this and I hope soon (real soon) that you all will be too.

the art of cheating.

why is it so hard to be faithful, yet so easy to cheat? what ever happened to monogamy in relationships? what happened to honesty and good communication in a relationship?

so many questions can be asked when it comes to why one cheats. BUT who has the answers?

cheating. what do you consider cheating? my personal definition is anything physical (or non-physical) that you would not do with someone else in front of your significant other. I know there are some bold people out there -- believe me, I know of a few -- but there are limits and being that you are in the relationship, you must abide by them. from kissing, oral fixation, to simple sexting -- it's all cheating to me.

nowadays it is so hard to find someone who will do right by you and stay right beside you (and only you). someone who is honest and knows how to communicate before acting out their desires is hard to find. if you knew you weren't ready for a relationship then why begin one? I think this can simply be answered by "...wanting your cake and eating it too." some (guys and girls) think that having a boyfriend/girlfriend does not necessarily take you off the "single's list". being involved does not mean you're married -- NO -- but you cannot honestly call it a relationship when you have other parties in the equation. "you can't get to know someone when there is more than one someone you are trying to get to know" is what I always say and I'm standing behind it.

why is it so hard to be faithful? maybe the relationship is getting/has become boring, maybe it is a little dull, maybe he/she is not the same person you met 2 years ago, maybe the sex is bad -- either way all of these problems can be answered with simple conversation and a nice little break-up between the two of you before things get out of control. who knows, maybe your partner wants the same thing but you never took the time to talk it out.

outside parties. of course every relationship is going to be tested. guys and girls alike are out to be themselves and have fun doing it at any costs at times. regardless you having a boyfriend/girlfriend, they will still test the waters to the point where all respect is gone. so how do you handle this? leave it up to your partner. he/she is the one in the relationship -- not the outsider. you should have trust enough in your partner to not worry about people flirting with him/her. it is bound to happen. it is life...deal with it.

there's someone for everyone. relationships are not for everyone but this does not give you the consent to have sex with whomever you please. take your time. find out what a person likes and dislikes. what he/she enjoys OUTSIDE of the bedroom. stop rushing into these relationships because you think it is what he/she wants. do what is best for you and stop bruising others feelings. you know when you're ready for a relationship -- you feel it.

take heed. take care of home and everything else will fall into place. see you at the alter :-)

reading an article on a dear friends site projectduh.com, it gave me an idea to write this piece.

bitch 1. a female dog. 2. a female of canines generally. 3. (slang) a malicious, unpleasant, selfish person, esp. a woman (b) a lewd woman. 4. (slang) a complaint. (b) anything difficult or unpleasant; (c) anything memorable, esp. something exceptionally good.

*definition in bold is my favorite. haha.

although commonly used in everyday slang amongst both sexes, it's become somewhat of a household name. in many instances it is used in the derogatory sense but is often used in a friendly connotation.

it is all about the power YOU give a word.

bitch, slut, even nigga, just to name a few, are all words that do not phase me at all. maybe coming from a male point of view, it is nothing but I call my female counterparts "bitches" all day and they do the same. it is almost like saying "friend" to us (at least that's what I think). I guess the saying, it's not WHAT you say, it's HOW you say it, all comes a part of your daily life and the words you use but are you really offended by this?

is it the fact that someone's calling you a bitch or a BITCH (and yes there's a difference) that drives you? often times words are used so loosely and are not necessarily used to describe a person/group but may be because the "attacker" knows that will get back at you best and quickly. it is found on our televisions, in our schools, all over the internet, in our music -- hell Beyonce says it -- there is no escaping words. you cannot control what comes out of someones mouth. you just have to prepare yourself for the worst. so what he called you a bitch? did you think that maybe at the time that that is what you were portraying -- not trying to defend anyone who uses the term negatively but let's think about it.

perfect example. group of girls pass by a group of guys. girls walk by, guys say whatsup, girls laugh and keep walking, guys scream fuck you then bitch and female replies, who you calling a bitch/your momma's a bitch. now ignorant behavior such as this, although I could imagine is hard to ignore, should not be tolerated but it also should not be entertained.

women (and men) refer to themselves as bitches all the time, true, but it is a close knit term. it's an understood statement/greeting between friends. just as blacks with the word "nigga" -- another term used loosely throughout black culture -- is used as a common gesture towards one of the same race. BUT women call men bitches. blacks call whites niggas. so where is the line supposed to be drawn? we have to respect ourselves before we expect someone else to do so.

re-introducing condoms.

making the decision to have sex without condoms is a risky one, but what do you do after the condoms are gone but you want them back?

the issue has arrived many times, not only throughout my life but my friends lives as well.

condoms -- if not already -- should be an essential even in the most monogamous of relationships. but we all know that they are not. I believe that there is a point in every meaningful relation where the condoms can be discarded but NEVER forgotten. so what happens when the condoms are gone, but you want to bring them back?

I'll take this time to reflect on a certain incident that happened with myself. I had someone who I "kicked it" with for a minute (5-6 months) and eventually we lost interest in condoms and gained interest in raw sex -- you know, after that "oh you don't trust me" talk. now sex -- does not just happen, especially when unprotected sex is at hand. we "kicked it" and all of a suddent...it stopped. not even 2 months later, I get a call (at a vulnerable moment) asking to come over and I said yes. so as things "heated-up" -- I saw it coming but didn't want to mess up the mood -- and before I knew it, I was in there raw. while in the act of sex the feeling is amazing, but AFTERWARDS is when the thoughts begin to circulate and the questions start brewing. but now it is too late! so why did I not want to mess up the mood?

not only did I not have condoms, I didn't stop it because I thought it would be an admittance to having unprotected sex with someone else since the last time we had "hooked-up". even though I had not, it had been 2 months since I had last seen this sexual partner, and who is to say who they have been with!

what can be done about re-introducing condoms?
communication is key. talk to your partner. communication is key in any relationship, friendship, hell even a fuck. so do not be afraid to speak up and speak out!

losing trust. we all lose trust or have an uneasy feeling about rekindling a past sexual relationship. DON'T BE. sex is supposed to be a good experience, easy on the mind. no need to have your mind boggling over who your partner's been with to satisfy their needs. think of yourself and your body first.

be selfish -- it's okay. sex can be the beginning of something beautiful or the beginning of something tragic. don't let your horniness be the end of your life. I know that in the heat of the moment all your blood goes from one head to the other, but remember this "once one head gets infected, so does the body"

let's wrap it up people. I can't tell you not to have sex but I can inform you on protecting yourselves. it is never too late to bring condoms back into a sexual relationship whether the trust is there or not. do not be afraid of condoms -- they are our friends.

Obama -- State of the Union address to Congress.

Obama, Obama, Obama. well where must I start. let's understand that despite my political views and my thoughts on current policy and other reform our current administration are undergoing as of now, I respect and admire President Barack Obama. I acknowledge his efforts and envision what he is trying to produce for this country. as I've said before -- and I quote myself in saying this --

"...it didn't matter if either Obama or McCain was elected because it's going to take more than 4 years to fix 8 years of fuckery that Bush created."

Obama delivered his first ever State of the Union address to Congress last night (January 27, 2010) and he touched on many issues that we're important. he really touched on the economy, which I agreed should have been his main focus, he touched on healthcare, education, and taxes. he's all about helping the "middle-class" which is great but he has to choose his words carefully and remember that the "upper class", or the bourgeoisie as they were termed in grade school, are the ones who must agree and vote for these tax cuts that will eventually help the middle class.

he talked a good talk. made a lot of good points, as I've stated, and I think said -- if not exactly -- close to what everyone wanted to hear. even though my fellow Republicans had some indifferent views, some even thinking that his speech was meaningless and pointless. one correspondent even went on to say that "he's been saying this since the beginning of his election" which I'm sure that she's saying that he's being redundant and it's time for action. his speeches are repetitive from state-to-state and he adds a little more here and there but let's look at the big picture. employment is still down 10%, we're still in a recession (believe it or not Drake), and I believe that we went from a president who spent too much money (Bush) to one who isn't spending enough money [and still talking about cutting back] (Obama).

Obama is a man for the people though and that you can't argue with. I looked to my close friends at CNN.com for a snippet of the video and even though I couldn't find a snippet, I did find that they broke the speech up into two parts -- which turned out to be great because I personally felt that this second part was the better half of his speech anyway. if you missed it, take a listen and if you want the whole speech then visit CNN.com for the whole speech and the GOPs response to his speech, given by newly elected Governor of Viriginia, Bob McDonnell.

kanye: the 'storyteller' doesn't tell much.

so as I'm reading through Friday's Fun section of the Baton Rouge Advocate, I run across an article with my main man Kanye headlining, "West not much of a storyteller after all" -- written by Dan Weiss of The Philadelphia Inquirer -- which I figured had something to do with his not so perfect performance during VH1's network special Storytellers which originally aired February 28, 2009. as I start to read, the article begins by saying

"...a live album in which Kanye West talks enough to distend just nine songs over an hour. Given his only previously sanctioned live track, an ill-advised bonus cut that nearly brought down the occasionally brilliant "808s & Heartbreak" altogether, and his mouthy track record -- not to mention the dearth of worthwhile live rap albums -- this one looked like a compelling train wreck at best."

as I continued reading they begin to compare his performance to that of the likes of good friend, Jay Z, saying

"...but Jay-Z's wonderful 'MTV Unplugged' enjoyed two advantages over Storytellers: a) Jay-Z's programmed beats left space for reinterpretation, whereas West's albums are already fleshed out with live orchestration aplenty; and b) Jay stuck to rap while Kanye uses the occasion to indulge his AutoTune fascination, with no new songs or particularly interesting vocal contributions."

hmmm...so my question is, what does Kanye's performance have to do with Jay-Z's performance and why are they even trying to compare the two? don't get me wrong, I loooove Jay-Z [anyone associated with Beyonce is an automatic shoe-in for me] but I've been a Kanye fan since his Graduation album. and frankly, Kanye can do no wrong to me. of course his mouth gets him in trouble but we all know this as Kanye. nothing that man does seems to amaze me. call me a fan, call me a dickrider, use whatever term u may find appropriate but the man makes good music. Weiss closes out his article by saying

"...'See You In My Nightmares/Robocop' presents two most compelling tunes from 808s in furious spotlight rather than the somewhat obscure treatment they received int he back half of that polarizing record. But nothing here eclipses or even particularly disembowels its original, meaning that Kanye's ambitions may be winding down -- even if his mouth isn't."

now what kinda shit is that. no matter if Kanye is snatching microphones out of teenage girls hands or showing up and events that he's not invited to, when it all comes down to it -- the man makes great music (and I don't think that I can reiterate that enough). I'm a fan and will be one. he's a legend, and icon, and a force to be reckoned with. I like his music and will continue to buy it -- the ACTUAL CD.

Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

usually I would take this time to "educate", so say, you on this legendary man, but since I think that everyone with a respectable high school education would already know the story of this man's life, I won't get too deep into it, BUT in remembrance of this man and his triumphant accomplishments I'll give you somewhat of a "run-down" of this man and what he has done for us all [black, white, asian, etc.]

Michael Luther King, Jr., born January 15, 1929 (if still alive, he would have been 81 years old this past Friday) in Atlanta, Georgia. graduating from high school at the age of fifteen, receiving his bachelors of arts (B.A.) in 1948 from Morehouse College, his bachelors of divinity (B.D.) from Crozer Theological Seminary, located in Pennsylvania, in 1951, and obtaining his doctorate in 1955 only after 3 years of residency.

1954, Martin became the pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, located in Montgomery, Alabama. shortly following, in 1957, he was elected president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) -- a non-violent organization formed to provide new leadership for the now burgeoning civil rights movement, who's teachings were based firmly around Christianity and loosely around the techniques of Gandhi. but this man would soon greatly impact the world as we know it.

on August 28, 1963, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, located in Washington D.C., in front of a crowd surpassing 200,000 people, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a speech that would assist, persuade even, president Kennedy and his administration in passing the Civil Rights Act in 1964. this "I Have A Dream" speech would go down in history as one of the greatest speeches ever and would be the defining moment of the American Civil Rights movement. here are a few excerpts from this monumental speech:

"It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. This sweltering summer of the Negro's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating autumn of freedom and equality. Nineteen sixty-three is not an end, but a beginning. Those who hope that the Negro needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the nation returns to business as usual."

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'"

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."

"I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood."

"Let freedom ring. And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring—when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children—black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics—will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: "Free at last! powerful words -- even today.

after delivering this speech in Washington D.C., the following year (1964) Dr. King became the youngest person to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his leadership role with the SCLC and his efforts with the civil rights movement. having lived a very [what I would like to call] fulfilling life, it was shortly ended on April 4, 1968, while on the balcony outside of his Lorraine Motel room, King was assassinated. but this wasn't the end of King nor his legacy.

so take the time out today and spend it doing something more than lounging around the house trying to catch up on sleep you didn't have this weekend. utilize it. read, tell his story, listen to his speech, READ his speech, and keep this man's words alive.

football -- playoffs.

Playoff quarterbacks, Farve, Brees, Manning, & Sanchez prepare for their last divisional playoff game looking to put their foot in the door at the Super Bowl XLIV

the tension is brewing as the smell of the Super Bowl begins to settle in the air. my predictions for last weekends divisional playoffs were pretty conclusive until the Chargers messed up my rotation [losing to the Jets 17-14 in a very close, defensive game]. but as I've said previously, "it really didn't matter who won that game because the Colts are going to molest whomever won out of the Chargers & Jets on Sunday" -- and those words you can mark.

this was a very exciting weekend in football nevertheless. Brees/Bush had an outstanding game Saturday, along with Colston, Shockey, Meachem, & the 'game on/game off' Henderson. that game Saturday, by far, was Bush's best game of this season. with speculations that Saints running back, Deuce McAllister, was set to play in this past game, I guess Reggie took this time to show Tom Benson [Saints owner] that he still had it in him.

but this Saints v. Vikings game is going to be a few offensive one. they both [Saints & Vikings] blew out their competition this past weekend, upsetting Cowboys fans (34-3) & disappointing Cardinals fans (45-14). both [Adrian] Peterson & [Reggie] Bush showed outstanding endurance during their respective games. Harvin & Rice did their thing in respect to Colston & Meachem, but who's gonna pull it off this weekend? if I HAVE to put my money on someone, it would have to be the Vikings -- stone me later fellow Louisianians!

now what about these Jets & Colts. to be honest there's nothing I have to say about the Jets but it's my job. upsetting not only myself (but I'm sure half the country) the Jets defeated the Chargers 17-14 in what pretty much was a fourth quarter battle. and with the Chargers field goal kicker, Nate Kaeding, missing 3 field goal attempts that night (after making 20 consecutive ones during the season), I wouldn't doubt it if his contract was up for discussion sometime this week. the Colts -- what can I say -- always show and prove when it's time to get down to business, but I did expect Baltimore to play a little better than they did against the Colts. despite being a pretty boring game, Ray Lewis & the Ravens were defeated 20-3 -- the Colts offense is just too quick.

so what's my prediction for Super Bown XLIV --

Illinois governor, Rod Blagojevich, publically apologizing to Obama after making a comment about him in February's issue of Esquire Magazine

I have yet to receive my issue of Esquire Magazine in the mail but boy I can't wait. as I was reading the paper today (even though I heard bits & pieces of it over the weekend) I ran across a headline that read Blagojevich: 'Blacker" than Obama 'stupid' and I had to read it.

apparently, the governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich ousted the president not only referring to him [Obama] as "this guy" but also stating that he was "blacker than Barack Obama". I smiled from ear-to-ear. I'm just waiting for the NAACP to be all over this one. it's not like he called Barack a nigg-r or anything derogatory of that nature, he was simply saying that he's had a rough life [that life known mostly to black people]. he [Blagojevich] did apologize for the comment saying that is was "stupid, stupid, stupid."

here's what was said:

he says that it was meant as a metaphor for his disappointment with Obama, who he accused of doing more to help Wall Street than Main Street. even when reading this I wasn't offended but I guess it's because I thought we, as a people, were over this whole "black" issue -- but I guess some people just can't let go of the past. I mean was it REALLY that serious? because I didn't see the harm in it.

"ollusion"

today Omarion dropped his third album entitled "Ollusion". the LP includes 12 new tracks and features the likes of Gucci Mane, Tank, Jay Rock, and who else but his "big brother" Marques Houston. of course you know I had the album sometime last week but I did go out and buy a actually copy of the CD. Omarion's one of those artists who I don't really care for but I buy all their albums [ie. Alicia Keys, Ciara, Ginuwine, Letoya Luckett -- just to name a few but no shade at all].

now with the release of two singles already, "I Get It In" & "Hoodie", both not receiving much radio play at all the anticipation of sales for this album is really gonna rely on him doing some heavy promotions (tv, radio, commercials, etc.), and the support of a strong fan base. but nevertheless, it's a good album. R&B singer and former woman beater (I had to), Chris Brown, helped write this song called, "What Do You Say". not my favorite song on the album but you can tell he [Brown] wrote it.
